On March 3, 2009, the Central Bank of Brazil issued Circular nº 3442, which deals with the Declaration of Brazilian Investments Abroad (Declaração de Capitais Brasileiros no Exterior – DCBE).
 
According to such regulation, natural person and corporate entities resident, domiciled or headquarted in Brazil must inform the Central Bank their assets held abroad in an amount higher than US$ 100,000 (on December 31, 2008). Additionally, such declaration should be delivered between March 30 and May 29, 2009 and its breach is subject to a penalty in an amount up to R$ 250,000.
