Brazilian consumer goods company Hypermarcas has raised US$420 million in a follow-on share offering on the international markets.
Hypermarcas and its selling shareholders retained Mattos Filho, Veiga Filho, Marrey Jr e Quiroga Advogados and Souza, Cescon, Barrieu & Flesch Advogados in Brazil, alongside US counsel Shearman & Sterling LLP, while Machado, Meyer, Sendacz e Opice Advogados and US firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP advised the underwriters.
The deal, which closed on 24 July, saw the sale of 34.5 million shares, 80 per cent of which were acquired by foreign investors.
Citibank and Credit Suisse acted as lead underwriters in the deal, along with Deutsche Bank.
Hypermarcas manufactures and sells hygiene and cosmetics products, pharmaceuticals, food and insecticides, and has 13 branches in the states of São Paulo, Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and Goiás. The company raised US$384 million in its initial public offering in April last year, and acquired Revlon's Brazilian brands in a US$104 million all-cash deal last August.
