Brazil’s Machado, Meyer, Sendacz e Opice Advogados and Arias & Munoz (El Salvador) have both announced their New Year’s round of partner promotions.
Machado Meyer has made up four new partners across its environment, corporate and finance practices, while Arias & Munoz has made two promotions, one in tax and the other in environmental law.
Environmental lawyer Roberta Danelon Leonhardt becomes a partner with Machado Meyer after 11 years with the firm working on consultancy and litigation matters. She joins the firm’s partnership alongside banking and finance lawyers Eduardo Avila Castro, who has been with the firm since 1996, and Arthur Bardawil Penteado, who joined in 2004.
Corporate lawyer Luiz Felipe Duarte Martins Costa also makes the step up to partner, having worked on a range of matters related to M&A, corporate restructurings and litigation since joining the firm in 2001.
Arias & Munoz’s new partners are environmental lawyer Eduarco Angel, who joined the firm in 2004 following a spell at El Salvador’s Supreme Court of Justice, and tax practitioner Luis Barahona, a former general director of El Salvador’s Inland Revenue.
