Mattos Filho, Veiga Filho, Marrey Jr e Quiroga Advogados and Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP have assisted real estate broker LPS - Brasil Consultoria de Imóveis in a follow-on equity offering worth some US$121 million.
Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP and Lefosse Advogados in cooperation with Linklaters assisted the underwriters, BTG Pactual, Itaú BBA, and Goldman Sachs.
The São Paulo- based company sold 5.5 million common shares on 27 October to fund future takeovers and expansion.
Both Mattos Filho and Simpson Thacher are long-standing counsel to LPS, and advised on earlier share offerings by the company including a US$223 million share sale in December 2006, in which Pinheiro Neto Advogados and Skadden Arps represented the banks.
Earlier this month Mattos Filho and Simpson Thacher helped educational institution Estácio Participações raise US$405.7 million in a share offering that closed on 8 October. The underwriters in the deal, BTG Pactual, Credit Suisse and Santander, were represented by Machado, Meyer, Sendacz e Opice Advogados and Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP.
