Machado, Meyer, Sendacz e Opice Advogados has advised Telefónica as it acquired US$760 million worth of outstanding Vivo shares from minority shareholders
The public tender for the shares in the mobile operator was completed last Friday and saw Telefónica′s financial adviser for the deal, Credit Suisse, retain Pinheiro Guimarães - Advogados.
The offer follows the Spanish telecoms company′s acquisition of Portugal Telecom′s stake in Vivo last July. The share buy is one of the last necessary steps before it can take full control of the mobile operator.
Telefónica plans to merge Vivo into its Brazilian fixed-line phone unit, Telesp, creating Brazil′s largest telecoms company.
It also owns a 42 per cent stake in Telco Spa, the main shareholder in Telecom Italia, one of its main competitors in the Brazilian mobile market.
