Brazil’s Madrona Hong Mazzuco Brandão – Sociedade de Advogados and US firm White & Case LLP have helped Brasil Telecom in a US$1.5 billion bond issuance on the Irish Stock Exchange.

Advogados and US firm Dewey LeBoeuf LLP provided counsel to the initial
purchasers: Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith, Barclays Capital, BTG
Pactual US Capital, Banco Espírito Santo de Investimento, Sucursal en España
and HSBC Securities. The issuance closed on 10 February.
Brasil Telecom turned to Madrona Hong twice at the end of last year – first for
a financing arrangement obtained in conjunction with a syndicate of telecoms
companies in November, then again in December for a US$1.3 billion debentures
issuance.
