Mundie e Advogados has helped an investment fund managed by Vinci Capital acquire a stake in Brazilian chain store Le Biscuit.
Le Biscuit,
a retailer selling home utilities, school supplies and haberdashery, is owned
by the Sant’Anna family, who took counsel from Machado, Meyer, Sendacz e
Opice Advogados in the US$160 million deal signed on 2 February.
The capital injection, which was negotiated over a period of six months, will
be used to facilitate the company’s expansion. Founded 44 years ago, Le Biscuit
has 20 stores in Brazil and is expecting to open at least 12 more this year.
Vinci Capital has been active since 2009, and has made some big investments
since its creation. Last year, the fund became master franchisee of Burger
King’s Brazilian restaurants through a joint venture agreement executed with
the help of Lobo & de Rizzo Advogados and Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen &
Katz. Machado Meyer acted for the fast food chain in that deal.
