Machado, Meyer, Sendacz e Opice Advogados has advised CPFL Energias Renováveis, one of Brazil’s largest independent electricity generators, in the acquisition of four wind farms.
The 1,062 billion reais (US$620 million) deal closed on
25 February and saw CPFL, through its subsidiary PCH Participações, acquire all
shares belonging to BVP, the company that holds Bons Ventos Geradora de
Energia, owner of four wind farms in Brazil. Mundie e Advogados advised
the sellers; Fundo de Investimentos em Participações Brasil Energia, Servtec
Investimentos e Participações, Fundo de Investimento em Participações
Progresso, and other investors.
The four wind farms, based in the northeastern-coast state of Ceara, have
contracts with Eletrobras and are named EOL Canoa Quebrada, EOL Bons Ventos,
EOL Enacel and EOL Taíba Albatroz.
