Machado, Meyer, Sendacz e Opice Advogados has helped a Brazilian fund managed by Bank of America Merrill Lynch acquire receivables from Rio de Janeiro state-managed investment fund FUNDES for US$277 million.
FUNDES used in-house counsel for the transaction, which closed on 27 October.
The receivables give the buyer the right to future revenue earned through financial agreements signed between Rio de Janeiro state and French carmaker Peugeot, Brazilian petrochemical company Braskem, and brewers Ambev and Brasil Kirin.
